There is no other summer like a European summer. Our first stop is the beautiful Sorrento. Located in the southwest of Italy, Sorrento is enriched with a welcoming culture and home to divine seafood restaurants, stunning hills and gorgeous mountain views. One of my favourite locations and definitely worth staying for at least 5 nights to explore the beaches and sites that make Sorrento a must visit this summer.
Our list of; must stay, must visit and must see:
1. Must stay at Villa Zaffiro - Immerse yourself in pure luxury when staying at Villa Zaffiro. Sleeping up to 10 guests this three level villa is the prefect summer escape. With a swimming pool built into a open plan terrance, you cannot help but admire the magnificent view of Naples. Only 400 meters away from the port of Marina Della Lobra, this is a great base for a day trip to incredible island of Capri.
2. Must visit Ristorante Vela Bianca - You cannot leave Sorrento without visiting Vela Bianca. This truly is one of the best seafood restaurants I have been to. The smell of fresh seafood with a touch of nonna's seasoning permeates the air as you walk through the front door causing you to salivate. After your three course delight be sure to enjoy a chilled glass of lemoncello to complete the tantalising experience.
3. Must see Capri - This is a given whilst staying in Sorrento. With ferries leaving every half hour, you can easily do a day trip to Capri. When arriving on the island be sure to book your ticket to see the Grotto Azzurra or Blue Grotto. A cave with a small opening, now known to have been a Roman bathing place. The opening of the cave allows the the daylight to reflect on the limestone floor and walls lighting the water in in a rich electric blue shade. After this magical experience, spend the rest of your time relaxing on the beach with your own little antipasto platter bought from local grocers that are so fresh and delicious you cant help but wish you did not have to leave
